About
Vanessa Smith was appointed as Chief Nurse in April 2021. She has worked at the Trust for over 30 years and began her career here as a student nurse. Vanessa is the Executive Director of Infection Prevention and Control and the Responsible Person for the Use of Force Act. Her role is to ensure that the organisation complies with the requirements of the Use of Force Act.
As Service Director for the Psychological Medicine and Older Adults (PMOA) directorate she oversaw significant achievements in patient safety, experience and involvement, and strengthened quality governance and assurance.
Vanessa was appointed as Deputy Director of Nursing in March 2019 and became Director of Nursing (Interim) in July 2019.
