The Croydon Personality Disorder Service Provides:

1. A specialist multidisciplinary psychotherapy service offering a range of intensity of treatment (Tiers 2 & 3) at our day hospital, based at the Bethlem Royal Hospital, for people with moderate to severe emotionally unstable personality disorder (also known as borderline personality disorder).  This service is based on the treatment known as Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT). This is offered on an out-patient basis; treatment lasts for up to 18 months and people attend either a 1, 2 or 3 day programme depending on their level of need and the complexity of their difficulties and associated problems. We aim to prevent the need for repeated psychiatric hospital admission by providing a very intensive programme for those who need it. Referral to the psychotherapy treatment programme is via inpatient services, secondary mental health community care teams or the assessment and liaison team.

2 - The Sun Project – an open access crisis-support and coping-skills-development group which runs four times per week from a central location in Croydon. This is a self-referral service only – people interested in accessing this service can telephone 020 3228 8541.
