Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London

The Insititute of Psychiatry is also based on the Maudsley Hospital site. It is Europe's largest centre for research and post-graduate education in psychiatry, psychology, basic and clinical neuroscience, and is world renowned for the quality of our research.

Visiting by car

From central London: follow the A215 from the Elephant and Castle. The hospital is located on the left hand side of Denmark Hill.

Congestion charge: Maudsley Hospital is not in the London congestion charge zone.

Parking: There is limited parking for visitors at the site which is chargeable. There are designated bays for disabled drivers. 

From Monday, 26 November 2018, our car parks will operate using an automatic number plate recognition system (ANPR). This means cameras will record details of all vehicles entering and exiting the car park. Visitors will need to pay to park. You can pay for your parking at one of the payment machines located in the car park, by credit card, debit card, contactless, ApplePay, AndroidPay or cash. Visiting by public transport

By rail: The nearest station is Denmark Hill (Zone 2). From Central London - Blackfriars, Farringdon, St Pancras and Victoria. There are direct connections to Bromley, Orpington, Bexleyheath and Sevenoaks as well as services to north London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Kent.

Denmark Hill is also connected to London Overground which provides direct services to Clapham Junction and Highbury and Islington.

By underground: The nearest stations are Oval and Elephant & Castle, from there the journey has to be completed by bus or taxi

By bus: Routes 40, 42, 68 (24 hrs) 176 (24 hrs), 185, 468, 484,  service the Hospital. Stopping at Camberwell Green (10 minutes away) are 12, 35, 36, 45, 171, 345, 436. Transport for London's journey planner might help plan your journey.

An inter hospital bus runs to Bethlem Royal Hospital, with departures at: 8.30 am, 10.15 am, 11.45 am, 1.45 pm, 3.10 pm, 4.45 pm and 6.05 pm.
