Rawle Ragoobar

Elected governor - staff

"I have been a mental health nurse in the Trust for 16 years. I had the privilege of working across the Trust, meeting and working with staff, service users and carers from different disciplines, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, learning from their experiences to improve the services we provide to those who use and work within them.

"I’m originally from Trinidad and Tobago and I live within the community I serve. During this time, I worked in early intervention, psychiatric intensive care services and a promoting safe and therapeutic (PSTS in-house) tutor, from qualifying to ward manager. This enabled me to experience and witness first-hand the challenges faced daily by staff, service users and carers. In response, I have developed a model of reflective practice - ‘shift reflection’ to support the wellbeing of colleagues, enabling them to leave work feeling supported, which has a direct, positive impact on the care they provide. Now, as the Deputy Lead for Staff Support, I work to support staff after traumatic events, I facilitate Critical Incident Staff Support (CISS), Schwartz Rounds and other reflective spaces across the organisation."
