Emma Williamson

Elected governor - staff

"I live and work in south London and I am dedicated to the area, local communities and services delivered here. I have worked as a clinical psychologist in the NHS for 10+ years and for the past six years I have been leading in the design, implementation, delivery and expansion of a pioneering leading national homeless mental health and accommodation service for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

"As the clinical lead, I have lead in partnership - with a network of local partners including Thames Reach homeless charity, London Borough of Lambeth and service users and carers - to develop a ‘best practice’ model for addressing the mental health needs of homeless people. I have a personal interest in contributing to service innovation to address inequalities in service access for socially excluded and complex needs populations that can fall through the cracks between services.

"I am passionate about sharing learning and therefore also teach on the clinical psychology doctorate course at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, have sat on pan-London expert working groups for homelessness, speak regularly at national conferences and have published widely. I am a proud member of the Trust staff and I believe in the work the Trust does as a leader in mental health. I like to make a further contribution to this as a staff governor, and in line with the NHS Five Year Forward View, continue to hold in mind how we strive to embrace partnership working and address health inequalities."
