The Estia Centre is a training, research and development resource for those who support adults with learning or intellectual disabilities and additional mental health needs.
We aim to support the development of a competent local intellectual disabilities workforce, from support staff to experienced managers from a variety of services. By working in close collaboration with clinical services and our experts by experience, we aim to improve the care of people with intellectual disabilities, especially those with additional mental health and challenging needs through evidence-based practice.
The Estia Centre is widely acknowledged as one of the market leaders in training and research in mental health and intellectual disabilities. Our main aim is to promote competent and capable environments, to enhance clinical practice and reduce health inequalities for people with intellectual disabilities. The Estia Centre is based at the Maudsley Hospital in London, and is an integral part of local services for people with intellectual disabilities provided by the Trust. We are also part of King's Health Partners.
