Course outline:
Mental health liaison services have expanded nationally as part of the NHS Five Year Forward plan and will undoubtedly continue to be a pivotal in the next plan for crisis and mental-physical interface work. The services work in challenging situations and demand a unique set of knowledge and skills.

This one-day course is for nursing staff working in general hospital liaison settings and those who wish to move into this area. At the end of the course learners will be expected to have gained an understanding of the core knowledge and skill set needed to assess and manage psychiatry patients in the emergency department, which can be further developed in clinical practice. In addition to clinical topics, managerial components of liaison work will be addressed.
