Prescribing
BAIS Drug Service provides an opiate-substitution prescribing service with ongoing support. This means that a substitute drug can be prescribed to achieve stabilisation or detoxification with the supportive input of a key-worker.

The main objectives of the prescribing service are: -
 To prevent and reduce withdrawal symptoms.
 To reduce the harm associated with misusing drugs, to individuals and to the wider community.
 To enable clients to lead more stable lives
 To support clients in becoming abstinent from illicit drug use

Inpatient detoxification
Inpatient detoxification may be an option for those who find community treatment unsuccessful.

If the client has identified residential rehabilitation as an aftercare plan, a referral will be made to a Community Care Assessor.

Hepatitis Vaccination
The service provides a course of Hepatitis B vaccination to drug users in the Borough. The aim is to provide immunisation against Hepatitis B, thereby protecting the health of the user and any of their close contacts. Clients are encouraged to receive vaccinations and are supported with pre and post testing counselling and onward referral if appropriate.
