Social Media is an important method of digital marketing and communication; it is direct, personal, instant and responsive and provides an excellent method with which to engage with service users, staff, media and other healthcare organisations.
By its very nature, social media is an interactive arena; it provides an effective channel through which to communicate with a wide range of people. Increasingly social media is used to:
- Ask for people’s comments and feedback
- Gauge people’s enthusiasm or concerns
- Create a dialogue
- Engage a niche audience with specific interest groups
Social media refers to the use of web-based technology to allow users to share video, audio, text or images. Much of the content is user-generated and feedback is positively encouraged.
