SLaM invites residents to get involved

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is calling for residents of South London to become Foundation Trust members, attend the Trust's annual public meeting (APM) and even consider standing for election to the Trust's Members' Council.

All residents are invited to SLaM's APM on Tuesday 13 September 2011 at Glazier's Hall, London Bridge between 5.30pm and 7pm. Anyone wishing to attend should confirm their attendance, or can ask for more information, by emailing communications@slam.nhs.uk or calling 020 3228 2830.

SLaM is calling on local residents to become Trust Members so they can get involved in shaping services and setting the long-term vision for the organisation.  Membership is free and members can choose how involved they get - from receiving a newsletter to attending events or taking part in surveys. The ultimate aim of membership is to reduce the stigma attached to mental health by raising awareness of its importance

South London residents who want to get even more involved can stand for election to the Members' Council - a governing body of the Trust. The Members' Council represents members' views and oversees the appointment of key board members - helping to ensure SLaM offers a high quality of service. Although not responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation, the Trust's Board has a duty to consult and listen to the Council's views. The dealine for putting your name forward for the election is Friday 16 September 2011.

For more information on becoming a member or standing for election to the Members' Council please email paul.mitchell@slam.nhs.uk Trust Board Secretary or telephone 020 3228 5376.

[Membership and Member's Council Elections

An important part of being an NHS Foundation Trust is having a membership made up of service users, carers, staff and members of the public.  The membership has a say in how the Trust is run and the 'voice' or executive arm of the membership is the Members Council. For more information on becoming a member or standing in the upcoming Members Council Elections, please email paul.mitchell@slam.nhs.uk or telephone 020 3228 5376.
