Relaunch of new SLaM website

Website re-launch

The main website of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) has had a makeover.

The website, www.slam.nhs.uk, which received over 364,000 visits last year has been improved and updated with the addition of many new features to make it easier to find information about SLaM services. Dan Charlton, Head of Communications, says: "By modernising the website and introducing improvements that present relevant information clearly, we hope that visitors to our website will be reassured about the high quality of SLaM's services."

An interactive clinical service map has been introduced on the site so that visitors can search for a SLaM service by borough, hospital or clinical area. The map contains detailed information about each SLaM service including location, contact details, the treatments on offer and information about who the service can help.

The new SLaM website also includes virtual tours of some SLaM services - meaning that potential service users and referrers can look at 360 degree panoramas of service locations. For example, virtual tours of the newly refurbished Woodland House, Kent, show what the external surroundings, the reception and living areas look like. Virtual tours are created using a series of detailed photographs of each service area.

The website retains many established features that have been identified as useful and effective by focus groups made up of service users, carers and staff. There continues to be a dual emphasis on meeting the needs of SLaM service users and the general public by providing both clear information about SLaM services and general advice about mental health and wellbeing. For example, the website still features the 'Wellbeing Garden' area providing a step-by-step guide to good mental health.

The SLaM Charitable Funds website, www.maudsleycharity.org.uk, has also been improved with the addition of user-friendly features including 'carousels' that allow visitors to scroll easily through well-presented information about previously funded projects and the history of SLaM from 1247 to the present day. A 'spotlight' feature on the website highlights important information and there is now more information about the ongoing work of SLaM Charitable Funds.
