Our action plan for change
We are committed to tackling inequality, eliminating discrimination and harassment and promoting equality of opportunity for all. Our Single Equality Scheme sets out how we will go about this. We have entitled this document 'No Quality without Equality - an action plan for change' to reflect the importance we place on the principles of equality and fairness and the recognition that we still have much to do to become the best we possibly can in service provision, procurement and employment practices.
All public sector organisations including the NHS have a legal duty under the Equality Act 2010 to work to eliminate discrimination, advance equal opportunities and foster good relations between different groups of people. This means that we pay particular attention to groups of people who may have less opportunity to access services or who experience different outcomes to the majority of the population.
