Edward Adamson Festival 2014

The Edward Adamson Festival celebrated the life and work of Edward Adamson (1911-1996), visionary pioneer of art as therapy, and creator of the Adamson Collection; and the thirty year anniversary of the publication of Adamson’s and John Timlin’s book, ‘Art of Healing’ in 1984. The Adamson Festival was the first major survey of Adamson’s work since his death.

The Festival revisit Edward Adamson’s approach to using art and creativity to enable people’s recovery and healing, through engagment with professionals, service users and artists working with art to promote psychological recovery, and with SLaM’s creative arts therapists.

The festival was made possible by a grant from the Maudsley Charity and was developed in collaboration with the Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind.
